Here at Liftoff, we like to shine a spotlight on our team members who make the biggest difference for our subscribers! This month, we sat down with Marj Dimaranan, one of our QA & Support Specialists, for a quick Q&A-style interview. Marj is an invaluable asset not only to the QA and Support team but to Liftoff Commerce as a whole. One member of Team Liftoff says she consistently goes above and beyond in her role as QA and Support Specialist, and she excels at writing test plans and doing pretty much any task she’s given! Marj's dedication and expertise make her an integral part of our team. Here’s how!
Liftoff: So, Marj, how’d you end up at Liftoff?
Marj: Thanks to Liftoff’s partnership with DCX, I’ve worked with Liftoff Commerce since September 2023! Before Liftoff, I spent four years in application support with my previous employer and did some low-code development as well.
Liftoff: Tell us about what you do around here!
Marj: I’m a QA & Support Specialist for Liftoff. As part of the QA team, we ensure that every release has no issues, so we can provide the best customer experience to our clients. In a support role, our day-to-day tasks include providing solutions or assistance to clients whenever issues arise. I enjoy working here because I love helping people and learning new things, and that’s exactly what I get to do!
Liftoff: Speaking of Liftoff, what’s your favorite feature of the platform?
Marj: Honestly, what impresses me the most is the idea that a client can customize the design by themselves using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Subscribers can also utilize the power of our OData API for data integration. And, of course, I love Rules and Batch jobs! I could go on and on about all of Liftoff’s features, but I can truly say Liftoff is the way to go!
Liftoff: Marj, who would you consider to be your childhood hero?
Marj: My childhood (and even adulthood) hero has always been my mom. She doesn’t speak much, but just by watching her actions, she taught us so much. Some of the most valuable lessons I learned from my mom were the importance of helping people, giving your best to whatever life throws at you, and always treating people with kindness.
Liftoff: Have you had any mentors throughout your career?
Marj: I love talking to people and getting to know their stories, so I’ve collected a long list of mentors in different aspects of my life. But when it comes to my career, one colleague stands out as someone who truly helped me to immerse myself in things that I truly love. Not that I’m trying to gain points here, but this mentor is Liftoff’s own Kam Bass. I’m beyond grateful for her shared expertise; she’s truly the best manager I’ve ever had!
Liftoff: What hobbies or interests do you have? What makes Marj, Marj?
Marj: Fried chicken. I love fried chicken, especially if it’s spicy. Outside of work, I have a few hobbies! When I want to clear my mind, I go to the gym or go cycling. When I feel like lazing (is this even a word?) around, I like to play Call of Duty or re-watch beloved sitcoms. Currently, I’m rewatching The Big Bang Theory (again).
Liftoff: Do you have anything else you’d like to share with our subscribers?
I’m just a regular girl who’s always happy to lend a helping hand to our Liftoff subscribers and our colleagues alike! We’re all a team here.
