Text: Employee Spotlight. To the right is a photo of Liftoff's Brandon Richardson.

Every month, we like to shine the spotlight on our team members who make the biggest difference for our subscribers. This month, we interviewed Brandon Richardson, a Software Engineer here at Liftoff. Let’s get to know more about Brandon, a recent and invaluable addition to Team Liftoff!

Liftoff: What’s your career been like so far? What brought you to Liftoff?

Brandon: I’ve been working with Liftoff Commerce since April of this year, but I’ve been working as a software engineer for about 2.5 years now. I found Liftoff Commerce through Indeed, and when researching the company, I really loved the site and how Liftoff provides customers with the ability to update orders through the URL.

In my previous life, I got my master’s degree in accounting but did not enjoy that work at all, so I jumped into property management and worked my way up to Asset Manager. After all of this, I didn’t feel like my mind was being used enough, so here I am.

Liftoff: What’s your role here at Liftoff, Brandon?

Brandon: I’m a Software Engineer for Liftoff. I mostly help with support tickets, bug fixes, and new features. I’m kind of nerdy, so I enjoy basically everything about my job!

Liftoff: What’s your favorite thing about Liftoff?

Brandon: The customizability. Is that a word? The more I learn about Liftoff, the more I love how much customers can do to make their site, their site.

Liftoff: Who was your childhood hero?

Brandon: My childhood (and current) heroes have always been my parents and grandparents. They’re so strong and caring. I hope to be even half as good a parent and person as they all are. They’ve always encouraged me to take chances and be confident.

Liftoff: Do you have a favorite sports team?

Brandon: My favorite sports team? The only proper answer is the Patriots.

Liftoff: What’s been a pivotal moment in your life?

Brandon: When I left property management, I didn’t have another job lined up. I just had some savings and a plan. I loved video games, sci-fi, and mind games. So I called my dad and he encouraged me to take a leap of faith. It has paid off in so many ways, and I’ve never been happier working. All of that is to say, whatever it is in life, give it a chance. It's better to fail than to wonder what if.

Liftoff: What do you enjoy? What are your hobbies?

Brandon: My hobbies are watching anime, reading manga, playing video games, traveling, and reading time travel theories.

One of my favorite video games is Chrono Trigger, and one of my favorite movies is Triangle.

Liftoff: Is there anything else you would like to share with the audience?

Brandon: One Piece is the greatest story ever told, no matter the medium. If you haven’t started it, start it. Contact me for detailed reasons why.
